GetTimer insertion mode

Jul 19, 2012 at 4:06 PM

Is it possible in any way to configure the insertion mode when using GetTimer, in the same way as it is done in AjaxOptions when using e.g. Ajax.ActionLink?

If not, it would a valuable addition to the GetTimer functionality.

No at moment the only insertion mode is "replace" because the basic idea is getting an updated version of the object from the server. We were planning to add two optional callbacks: the first one may substitute the standared behaviour (ie replacing the content of the target id) and the second one is called after in any case, that is after the new content has been inserted, and gives the opportunity to do some custom processimng an the newly added content

We will consider also your proposal. It might me susefful to implement a chat system where new conversations are added. However, consider that polling the server will become quicly obsolete due to signalR-like software that give the opportunity  for the server to push directly data on the client.

The feature you required has been implemented. See here.
